About Class 8.8
Class 8.8 is the standard metric fastener grade for most general-purpose automotive and industrial applications. At 800 MPa minimum tensile strength, it matches or exceeds SAE Grade 5 and covers the vast majority of metric fastener specs in vehicle repair and machine shop environments.
The zinc plating provides corrosion resistance for indoor shop environments and most under-hood applications. For outdoor or marine environments with heavy moisture exposure, stainless steel is the better choice.
